Target Group
- The OT software engineer can program complex algorithms in Structured Text (ST) that uses composite data types such as structs and arrays.
- The OT Software Engineer has basic PLCnext Engineer skills such as linking, monitoring variables, using cross-reference and so on. These basic skills may have been acquired by self-study (see practical information) or by attending the PLCnext Technology workshop or the PLCnext Engineer workshop.
- OT software engineers with several years of programming experience on another platform.
- EQF4/EQF5
Explanation
The PLCnext Controls comply with IEC 61131-3, and Phoenix Contact supplements them with platform-specific features. As a result, OT software engineers develop generic and platform-specific skills when programming applications for a platform. The generic IEC skills the software engineer reuses when he changes PLC platforms. During a project, he can learn platform-specific functions but then there is a risk that a project will be extra long and the solution will not use the most optimal functions. This training teaches experienced OT software engineers these relevant platform-specific functions. In addition, the training pays attention to a professional software construction process (version control, quality rules).
Content
- Assemble a PLCnext Control configuration, check it with Project+ and integrate it with PLCnext Engineer.
- Commissioning a PROFINET and Modbus device with Startup+ and integrating via a configurable or programmable functions of PLCnext Engineer.
- Integrate an IO-link device by IODDT file but also via the AXL PDI library.
- Monitor the signal quality of digital and analog signals by using the AXL_Analog and AXL PDI library.
- Read the hardware configuration of a PLCnext Control and dynamically link it, via a programmable connection, to the IEC program. This programmable connection uses the AXL PDI library.
- Program a controller-to-controller communication function using UDP between multiple PLCnext Controls, which uses the PLCnext Controller (UDP_SOCKET, UDP_SEND, UDP_RECEIVE) library.
- Programming a file (JSON, CSV) read function for the purpose of initializing a PLCnext Controls application.
- Program a monitoring function, which increases reliability, by monitoring PLCnext Control resources.
- Programming a background task.
Recognition
This training ends with an exam. If the participant has passed the exam then the participant will receive a certificate. If the participant only attended the training and did not take the exam or completed it with a failing grade then the participant will receive a certificate of participation.
Further Education
This training is part of the PLCnext Certified Engineer Program and the program determines other possible training. Go to the PLCnext Community and check out the options.
Practical Information
Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
To best support this training, Phoenix Contact uses a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). A few weeks before the start of the training, the participant will receive the necessary details to access the VLE.
Preparing for training
This training is open only to OT software engineers who meet the listed prerequisite requirements. If an OT software engineer does not meet the PLCnext Engineer basic skills requirement then this participant can take a switch module available in the VLE. This switch module consists of three e-learning modules and some exercises. The switch module requires approximately three to six hours of study time.
Admission Test
If a participant has doubts about the existing prior knowledge, it is possible to take an admission test. The participant can then contact Phoenix Contact.
