Classes of industrial communication cabling

Categories and transmission properties

Modern communication cabling conforms to ISO/IEC 11801. This standard for building cabling describes channels and component categories for networks with different transmission properties.
• Each channel class describes the entire cabling path
• The component category specifies the requirements placed on the individual components
• One component category corresponds to each channel class
• The components are used in the corresponding channel

For example:
If a Class EA channel is dimensioned with CAT6A components - according to ISO/IEC 11801, Am14 and Am2 - 10 Gigabit Ethernet becomes possible by design.
