Sustainability project

Portugal creates clarity in consumption

If you want to save energy, you need to know exactly where the electricity goes.

Project goals

With fine-resolution sensor technology and measurement data acquisition, the view is clear for effective measures that save resources and reduce energy consumption in the long term. Digitalization creates the basis for this.

  • Greater transparency through detailed energy consumption data
  • Decision-making basis for targeted investments
  • Using an intelligent control system with IoT functionality
  • Blueprint for comparable customer projects

Months for long-term measures

Bringing digitalization to life

No long explanations, just demonstrating how to do it right away. In Sintra, Portugal, they have been showing what they are capable of for centuries. The cultural landscape of Sintra, with its ancient palaces, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for good reason. In this context, the Phoenix Contact subsidiary, founded in 2008, is one of the younger inhabitants of the town – and all the more committed to greater sustainability. The same applies here: There’s no need for talk when you can just show how energy efficiency can be improved with modern technology.

We show the market how our solutions can be used to protect the climate in an economical way.

Collect data, gain information, and derive measures

Making decisions based on reliable information

If you want to improve energy efficiency in your operations, you need data to extract information from it. Another part of the project then involved transferring the collected knowledge to an IoT information system. This has now resulted in a striking evaluation of energy consumption data over different time periods. This paves the way for long-term efficiency measures, as trends can be identified across the timeline. This measure is accompanied by investments in modern hardware that replaces inefficient and more cumbersome systems. The work that brings the greatest efficiency gain in terms of return on investment can in turn be derived from the data that is collected.
