The universal CHARX connect vehicle charging inlets allow the AC and DC charging of electric cars and electric utility vehicles – from low charging powers all the way to High Power Charging (HPC). The vehicle charging inlets have been developed for automobile manufacturers and are already being used in the new generations of electric vehicles. These inlets allow the electric vehicle to be charged continuously at a power of 250 kW, and temporarily even up to 500 kW. The portfolio covers the charging standards CCS type 1, CCS type 2, and GB/T, including AC versions.

Fast charging with HPC charging connector and CCS charging inlet  

Ultra-fast HPC charging: The vehicle charging inlets allow charging power of up to 500 kW

Previous vehicle charging inlets supported fast charging with power of up to 200 kW. High Power Charging with higher power ratings was previously not possible on the vehicle side, because it led to dangerous overheating in the vehicle.

Our new CHARX connect CCS charging inlets with a DC cable cross-section of up to 95 mm² now enable safe HPC charging with up to 500 kW. It is therefore now possible to charge electric vehicles in just a few minutes, instead of over several hours.

The optimized connection technology between the DC power contacts and the high-voltage cables also minimizes heating of the connection system. The integrated temperature sensor technology ensures maximum safety with high-precision temperature measurement on both power contacts. The vehicle can then regulate the requested charging current dynamically based on the temperature evaluation.

The demand for fast charging is growing constantly. The requirement on the latest e-car generations in particular is increasingly on them being able to be charged in the shortest amount of time and with the most stringent safety standards.

The same applies to electric utility vehicles such as buses, transporters, forklift trucks, tractors, construction machines, mining vehicles, cleaning and disposal vehicles, emergency vehicles, tow trucks, and much more.

Our vehicle inlets are the universally suited charging interface for all vehicle types. They are the vehicle-side counterpart to the AC or DC charging connector. With the Combined Charging System (CCS), which we played a major part in co-developing, a vehicle can be charged with direct current (DC) or with alternating current (AC) using the same CCS charging inlet.

Identical installation space: The vehicle charging inlet dimensions and geometries are identical

The external dimensions and screw-connection geometries of the vehicle charging inlets are extremely compact, and the designs for the AC and CCS charging inlets are identical.

This means that manufacturers and conversion specialists can, in most cases, plan the same installation space for charging inlets in their vehicles, regardless of the target market.

Save charging process: The interlock prevents the charging connector from being pulled out

All vehicle charging inlets, with the exception of the GB/T DC charging inlet, are equipped with an electromagnetic locking actuator in accordance with standards. It locks the vehicle charging connector on the side of or directly onto the locking clip in the mating face during the charging process.

The actuator bolt is designed to withstand high pull-out forces. This makes it impossible to pull out the charging connector during the charging process.
