QUINT ORING active redundancy module with MOSFET

Active redundancy modules

The QUINT S-ORING active redundancy module decouples supply networks with MOSFET and keeps cables separated up to the load. In combination with the new QUINT POWER power supply units, input voltage and the decoupling section are monitored continuously. The QUINT ORING active redundancy module features ACB (auto current balancing) technology. This balances the loads on power supplies equally, and therefore extends their service life.

QUINT S-ORING active redundancy module

QUINT S-ORING active redundancy module

QUINT SINGLE-ORING active redundancy module

The QUINT S-ORING active redundancy module decouples with MOSFET and this provides for superior system availability and maximum operational safety. Supply networks are decoupled and lines are routed separately – consistently through to the load. In combination with the fourth generation of the QUINT POWER power supplies, the input voltage and decoupling section are monitored continuously. The Plus version and the VP version with protective circuit and overvoltage protection (OVP) protect sensitive loads. Overvoltages are limited to <28.8 V or <30 V respectively.

  • VP version >30 V (QUINT4-S-ORING/12-24DC/1x40/VP)
  • Plus version >28.8 V (QUINT4-S-ORING/12-24DC/1x40/+)

QUINT ORING active redundancy module with ACB Technology

The new QUINT ORING modules with ACB Technology ensure the even utilization of the power supply units, thus doubling the service life of your redundantly operated power supplies. For the first time, the redundancy modules with a wide input voltage range also feature ACB Technology for 12 V redundancy systems.

In a system consisting of two QUINT POWER power supplies and one QUINT ORING, the input voltage, output current, and decoupling section are monitored continuously. Any loss of redundancy is therefore highlighted early on. In addition, the redundancy modules are available with different overvoltage protection (OVP) thresholds, ensuring maximum system availability for all possible systems.

Individually available OVP thresholds:
<26.5 V DC
<28.8 V DC
<30 V DC
<32 V DC

Double the service life with ACB Technology

As a result of asymmetries, the load is often supplied by just one power supply unit, while the other power supply unit runs in no-load operation. This results in a thermal load on the working power supply unit, and therefore, rapid aging.

The ACB Technology of the QUINT ORING modules ensures the symmetrical loading of both power supplies. The input voltage difference between the power supplies is continuously determined and automatically compensated up to a deviation of 300 mV. The load current is therefore distributed symmetrically.

Thanks to the use of modern MOSFET technology, the resulting thermal load is reduced by up to 70%. This lower level of power dissipation ensures that all the control cabinet components stay cooler and the service life of devices in the redundant system is doubled.

Operational safety comes first

Availability is generally a top priority, especially in process engineering systems. Overvoltage protection (OVP) protects downstream loads from overvoltages greater than 30 V DC or 28.8 V DC at the output.

The redundant system made up of the QUINT POWER power supply and the active redundancy module QUINT4-S-ORING/+ ensures maximum operational safety with SIL certification. Install the system in applications with functional safety up to a safety integrity level of SIL 3 (IEC 61508).
