Feed-in management Connecting decentral power generation plants to the grid
The innovative solutions from Phoenix Contact help you to connect decentral power generation plants flexibly in accordance with the local requirements of the grid operator.
The parameters at the grid connection point are recorded by measuring devices and transmitted to a central feed-in controller
Application
Decentral power generation plants and battery storage systems make a key contribution to ensuring grid stability. The grid operators responsible specify the ranges to be maintained for grid frequency and voltage and for reactive power in their grid connection conditions for photovoltaic systems. To control these, regulators for power generation plants (PGP) record the present voltage and reactive power at grid connection points. The respective control values for the inverters are determined based on these values.
Along with the connection to the feed-in management system of the grid operator, individual reactive power control poses a great challenge. The grid parameters at the grid connection point are recorded by measuring devices and transmitted to a central Power Control Unit. Then, the actuating values calculated from the reactive power controller are transmitted to the inverter installed in the system.
Solution
Switchgear and controlgear assembly for feed-in control
Grid security with feed-in control Simple connection with a complete solution
The connections of interfaces to the power provider and direct marketing company as well as the integration of external devices such as inverters can be adapted to the specific application by our Solution Partner. The users implement this on a project-specific basis. With our ready-to-install control cabinet solution for feed-in control, we have already combined all the necessary components such as the controller, network technology, and power supply in the same housing. This comprehensive solution allows you to feed electricity from your decentral power generation plant into the power grid.
Controller for feed-in control
Grid-compliant connection of your power generation plants Certification
Any power generation systems, whether combined heat and power plants, wind power, or photovoltaic systems that feed into the German medium- or high-voltage grid must be equipped with a certified control unit – the Power Control Unit or PCU. While a manufacturer‘s declaration was sufficient in the past, a certificate issued by a DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065-accredited certification authority is now required.
Our PCU is certified in accordance with VDE-AR-N 4110/20 in Germany. It therefore implements the active power and reactive power requirements as well as monitoring the voltage conditions at the grid connection point. For Spain, our power control unit is certified in accordance with the Norma Técnica de Supervisión de la Conformidad de los Módulos de Generación de Electricidad. And for Poland, certification is in accordance with the ROZPORZĄDZENIE KOMISJI (UE) 2016/631 standard.
Reduced programming effort for feed-in control
Interface programs enable significantly reduced programming effort
The solution from Phoenix Contact consisting of hardware and software ensures that the engineering effort with respect to feed-in control is kept to a minimum. The functional scope of the software is being extended constantly. Ready-to-use interface programs are available for the PLCnext Engineer programming environment. They enable the quick and easy integration of grid operators, direct marketers, energy measuring devices, inverters, portals, and weather sensors. After configuring the application in PLCnext Engineer, the interfaces must be configured in the eHMI.
