Modular AC charging sockets with a reduced installation depth – for flexible and space-saving mounting
The CHARX connect modular type 2 charging sockets from Phoenix Contact are now available with a reduced installation depth: With the third generation, the company is launching an optimized solution for flexible and space-saving integration into charging infrastructure solutions.
By reducing the installation depth by almost 20 mm, the new charging sockets enable space savings of up to 38 percent compared to the previous generation. They are ideal for compact home chargers and charging stations with limited installation space. Another new feature is that the charging socket can now be mounted directly on the PCB as an alternative to the traditional mounting method of using plug-in connection cables. The new generation also features a choice of three actuator positions at 4 o'clock, 8 o'clock and 12 o'clock. This enables tailored adaptation to different installation situations. The charging socket is suitable for both front and rear panel mounting.
Like its predecessor, the third generation is also based on an award-winning modular system. The individual components and features can be combined to create tailored solutions: IP55 protective covers with a round or square design, optionally with integrated RGB LED status indicator, and shutter. The plug-in connection cables are also available in various lengths and performance classes, and as an option with temperature sensors. In addition, the new generation is fully compatible with all components of the CHARX connect modular family and thus provides maximum design freedom for manufacturers of AC charging infrastructure.
The AC charging sockets also meet particularly high requirements in terms of safety and security, robustness and design, ensuring reliable operation even under demanding ambient conditions. The optional integrated PTC temperature sensor protects against overheating, while the mechanical shutter ensures standard-compliant touch protection in accordance with IPXXD degree of protection. Furthermore, the fully molded, specially coated contacts feature outstanding corrosion protection, a long service life, and efficient power transmission. The intuitive single-handed operation and the compact, robust design with fiberglass-reinforced plastic makes CHARX connect modular the ideal solution for demanding charging infrastructure - even in particularly tight spaces.
