FL SWITCH TSN 2300

2300 series managed TSN switches

Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) describes a series of standardized transmission mechanisms for data in Ethernet networks that allow deterministic real-time communication, regardless of the protocol. Precise time synchronization is the basis for combining hard real-time requirements and classic IT services in one network – the basis for network convergence.

With the managed TSN switches from Phoenix Contact, you build applications with precise time synchronization. This ensures real-time communication and increased availability in your automation networks.

TSN – the new Ethernet technology

Time-Sensitive Networking is a set of standards designed to improve the real-time properties of current Ethernet networks. This is therefore made of several individual standards that are currently being defined in the TSN Task Group of the IEEE 802.1 standardization organization.

However, Ethernet TSN is not an independent communication protocol. Instead, it defines functions. These functions can in turn be used by different protocols such as OPC UA and PROFINET.

User-friendly TSN configuration

Easy PROFINET TSN configuration via PROFINET 2.4 Engineering

PROFINET TSN profile

The managed 2300 series TSN switches support the PROFINET TSN profile:

  • IEEE 802.1AS (precise time synchronization)
  • Frame preemption
  • Stream management via PROFINET

Configuring the TSN made very easy. The FL SWITCH TSN 2300 devices allow a user-friendly TSN configuration via PROFINET 2.4 engineering. Here, the configuration of isochronous data traffic is easier than with classic PROFINET RT.
