FAME Virtual Cabinet
Marking and Accessories
FAME offers a variety of options to professionally identify terminal poles and conductor positions including locations on the handle, front and back of the base element, and extra marking locations that can be customized for end use application. Any combination of alphanumeric text can be printed on the labels, including QR codes that link to a drawing, test procedure, etc. Color coding options are also available.

Configurable
Every pole of the FAME test switch can be designated as either CT or PT. The distinction is made when bridges are inserted thereby jumpering select poles. Because of this feature, simply adding or removing a bridge changes the individual poles to/from a CT or PT application. Users no longer need to stock different configured bases. With FAME, the base can be stocked with an assortment of bridges and markers to support any configuration as needed.

Touch safe
FAME is an innovative, touch safe test switch for medium and low-voltage switchgear applications in substations and utility-revenue metering. Knife blade switches have been the defacto standard for over 50 years, but they contain rows of exposed metal contacts, which pose hazardous risk to equipment and personnel. Unlike knife blade switches, FAME is much safer with no exposed contacts, preserving the testing functionality.

Patented Rotary Handle
Patented design of the test plug (or handle) ensures safe operation during testing by automatically, mechanically locking the handle into place. When the handle is fully inserted, there is a red indicator for full insertion with locks engaged. When testing is complete, the three step removal process aids in easy removal of the handle with a rotating handle design. To remove, the handle is rotated forward. This engages the plungers which begin to uniformly extract the test plug. The indicator turns to yellow. When the handle is returned to the neutral position, and is rotated backward to release the locks, the indicator turns green. The handle can then be removed.

Space Saving
FAME is augmented with terminal points that are offset to allow for increased connection density. For example, in a typical rack design, FAME incorporates three 14-pole switches, in the same cutout space that supports three 10-pole units of the older knife blade switch. This provides more terminations in the same amount of real estate, conserving valuable space in the cabinet.

To enhance the functionality and operation of FAME, accessories accompany the system, including test plugs, operating covers, and test and measurement products. In contrast, accessories for knife blade switches are bulky and difficult to use.
