IP20 Axioline F Smart Elements

Axioline Smart Elements are a highly modular extension of the Axioline F I/O system.

The offering is broken down into two pieces: The base units and the Smart Elements. The base units are available with either 4 or 6 element slots. These base units connect directly to the AXL F backplane and can be used in conjunction with any other AXL F module. Additionally, each base unit contains a single power connector and distributes this power to all connected Smart Elements, reducing installation time. Finally, we have the Smart Elements. These elements are available in digital, analog, and special function variants, allowing the user to customize the I/O block to match their application demands. Each Smart Element is only 15mm wide and can be stacked two high to provide 32 digital I/O channels in 15mm of rail spacing.

IO-Link

IO-Link is the first I/O interface standardized worldwide (IEC 61131-9) that provides a point to point communications between the I/O module (IO-Link master) and the sensor(IO-Link device). These communications provide access to configuration, diagnostics, and even addition process data from the sensor all over the standard sensor cables you have used in the past. This is possible by allowing the digital I/O line to also act a communication line to transmit serial data.

IO-Link devices

This term refers to sensors and actuators that supports the IO-Link communications protocol. These devices can be standard sensors and actuators but also include devices such as I/O hubs, safety relays, motor starters and device circuit breakers. Through IO-Link communications these devices can allow the IO-Link Master or PLC access the device configuration, diagnostics, and opens up for addition process data transforming a channel built to transmit one bit of data into a channel capable of transmitting up to 32bytes of data.

Configuring Phoenix Contact’s EtherNet/IP Gateway

In this video, we’ll demonstrate the simple configuration of Phoenix Contact’s new EtherNet/IP Gateway using its integrated web server. We’ll also configure the Gateway to allow the EtherNet/IP Master to read data from a Modbus RTU device and write data to a Modbus/TCP slave.
