Secure communication in the field
The structure and function of a system may require the use of devices and components for communication even outside the control cabinet. A high-performance and secure infrastructure must be able to withstand adverse ambient conditions in the field. Moving elements in the field, which are difficult to reach via fixed wiring, pose a particular challenge. But wireless connections also have special requirements. COMPLETE line provides you with the most diverse solutions for communication in the field.
Establishing secure communication in the field
IP67 switches and the associated cabling make it possible to set up robust Ethernet networks with fieldbus nodes directly in the field. IP67-protected switches with metal housings are characterized by their slim design and enable flexible mounting on a metal profile directly on the machine or on the wall. The M12 connections are suitable for classic connectors as well as for the innovative M12 push-pull fast-locking system. The power input/power output concept also enables the highly efficient supply of power to several switches or I/O stations with minimum cabling work.
Collector wires are often a solution for moving machine parts. However, if these data connections are too unstable and therefore prone to errors, wireless solutions are the obvious choice. Wireless communication is required at the latest when mechanical connections can no longer be made, for example in automated guided vehicle systems (AGVs). WLAN wireless modules open up a WLAN network in the field with mobile and movable devices. WLAN 1100 and WLAN 2100 are inexpensive comprehensive WLAN solutions with integrated antennas and a wireless module in a single device. The wireless module is easily mounted on machines or AGVs by means of single-hole mounting, and it is ideally protected against external influences by its robust housing.
Sometimes, there is a need to integrate individual automation devices into the network via WLAN. The Ethernet port adapter is a simple and cost-effective solution for fast and secure Point2Point connections and small networks. With an integrated antenna and a data throughput of up to 20 Mbps, it is installed directly in the field. Alternatively, the WLAN connection can be configured via mode button or web browser.
If all WLAN frequencies and channels are already assigned, it is possible to set up additional communication channels via Bluetooth. The Ethernet port adapter is available as a pure Bluetooth wireless module or as a combined WLAN and Bluetooth wireless module. It establishes connections without interfering with the WLAN network. It should be noted that the Bluetooth data rate of up to 3 Mbps is lower than that of WLAN.
If, for example, interchangeable tools are supplied with data and energy via robot arms, frequently used plug connections wear out quickly. NearFi Technology transmits power and data without contact or wear, reducing costs for maintenance and spare parts. NearFi couplers transmit 50 watts and Ethernet protocols with up to 100 Mbps between two devices over a distance of up to 10 mm. The use of this technology does not interfere with existing wireless technologies such as WLAN or Bluetooth.
