TC Routers Industrial 4G and 5G cellular routers
The TC Router product family facilitates reliable and high-performance data connections to remote stations via the cellular network. The 4G and 5G devices include a fallback to 3G and 2G cellular technology. This means that they can be used anywhere, regardless of which technology provides the most reliable network coverage at the location. The extended temperature range also means that they can be used in any climate.
Your advantages
- Complete network security with private APN, stateful-packet-inspection firewall, and VPN
- Cellular routers with extended temperature range (-40°C … +70°C) for all infrastructure applications
- Universal in application, from SMS and e-mail messages, through lean cloud and remote control protocols, all the way to 4G broadband connection
- Easy integration into the system via two Ethernet connections or as a WLAN access point
- User-friendly operation directly on the front of the device and configuration via SD card or web interface
Industrial 5G router for secure remote access to systems
Highest bandwidth thanks to 5G and the powerful processor
The TC ROUTER 5004T-5G EU is the first member of the TC ROUTER family to feature a 5G cellular interface. It is equipped with a powerful processor platform and four Gigabit Ethernet ports to handle the high data rates of 5G (5G NR) and 4G (LTE Advanced Pro). The 5G router can be used in public and private networks alike.
As the device with the highest throughput in the family, it is particularly suitable for applications such as video transmission or the transfer of large firmware or configuration files to machines and remote stations.
TC ROUTER with integrated WLAN interface
Integrated WLAN interface for maximum flexibility
Thanks to the integrated WLAN interface, the TC ROUTER 4102T-4G EU WLAN can act as an access point and easily integrate surrounding devices into the network via WLAN. Therefore, an additional WLAN access point on the DIN rail is no longer necessary. Moreover, during maintenance, the WLAN network can be used separately from the application to access the Internet. You are therefore no longer dependent on a cellular solution when using a laptop or smartphone.
The TC Router features a wide range of uplink options on the WAN side. With a configurable Ethernet WAN port or as a WLAN client, several connection options can be used for remote communication. In the event of an error, the cellular connection takes over communication, avoiding an interruption of the connection to the remote station.
Central device management with the TC Router Online Manager
Management for cellular routers
The TC Router Online Manager (TOM) enables automated regular updates for all devices in the TC Router family from Phoenix Contact.
Security updates, the latest firmware versions, and configuration changes can be transmitted to all devices worldwide as a mass rollout in defined time windows.
This web-based management platform also documents the device status, i.e., the online connection of all TC Routers over several years.
The TC Router Online Manager can be operated locally (on premises) or in a cloud (e.g., Amazon Web Services).
SMS messages provide technicians and the control system with access to the process
Use as an SMS and email gateway
Along with communication from a remote system to the control room or cloud, the TC Router family also features further interfaces.
For example, the XML interface can extend the existing I/Os of the router without limits. An upstream controller issues commands to send messages by SMS or email via the interface. Incoming SMS messages can also trigger events in the controller. The router can thus be used as an SMS gateway, which is of benefit in particular when there is very little communication traffic. Furthermore, a virtual private network (VPN) can be started via SMS message.
The TC Routers are also suitable for solar-powered systems
Energy-saving mode
The energy-saving mode of the devices significantly reduces power consumption in standby mode. Particularly in solar-powered remote stations, this allows error-free operation despite the few hours of sunlight.
The energy-saving mode is controlled via a digital input and, in the case of the TC ROUTER 4000 series, also via calendar-controlled switch.
Routers for providers AT&T and Verizon
Various country versions for worldwide communication
It is becoming more and more difficult to adapt the cellular frequencies around the world uniformly. This has resulted in there being more than 25 frequency bands already in use in the 4th generation, as opposed to the four bands available in the GSM network at the beginning. Further increases are expected for the 5G network. The radio approvals of the various countries and providers are also increasing global diversity.
In order to still be able to provide inexpensive cellular devices, market-specific versions are offered, which together guarantee worldwide functionality. In addition to the European versions, the TC ROUTER 3002T-4G ATT and TC ROUTER 3002T-4G VZW devices are the sister versions for the North American market. These routers have all the necessary approvals to be able to be used in the networks of the providers AT&T (ATT) and Verizon Wireless (VZW).
