If required, the device can be plug-in and modular. This enables the flexible use of different function units in accordance with availability, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
The HMI module can be connected quickly and safely with the board-to-board connectors of the FINEPITCH range. Shielded and unshielded solutions are available for signal and data transmission. Realize tailored PCB orientations in all dimensions with different designs.
The CHARX connect mode 3 charging cables are suitable for the AC charging of electric vehicles. They can reach charging powers of up to 22 kW and are available for the NACS, type 1, type 2, and GB/T charging standards.
The type 2 CHARX connect modular charging sockets are mounted in AC charging stations and home chargers, enabling the AC charging of electric vehicles via mobile charging cables with up to 22 kW. With our modular system, the design and scope of functions can be individually adapted.
Cables for feed-in and for data connection must be routed into the home charger with water and dust protection. Cable glands are a proven solution. While the QPD and PRC installation connectors offer a plug-in power connection.
Reliable connection technology for DC charging stations: efficient, compact, and easy to install
The latest semiconductor technologies and sophisticated thermal management enable DC fast charging stations to be increasingly compact – efficient, scalable, and highly integrated. Phoenix Contact’s device connection technology enables high currents and voltages for power electronics and safe signal and data transmission with a high packing density.
PCB connection for charging controllers
The charging controller controls and monitors the charging process. The controller is used for internal and external communication, e.g., via CAN, Modbus, and LTE. Connectors with a compact design and fast-connection technology are the optimum solution.
With our terminal blocks, signals and power are clearly distributed in the charging station. The installation of terminal blocks in DC charging stations is facilitated by various connection technologies with different cross-sections and colors.
Stable data connections are required for the data link between the control unit, display, and payment unit. Whether USB, RJ45, or COAX – we provide the right device interface and cabling for every protocol.
Additional functional units such as safety relays, insulation monitoring, power modules, DC contactors, and surge protection modules require permanently reliable connection technology for signals, data, and power.
Feeding energy into the grid and distributing it to the individual power modules requires high currents and large cross-sections. The connection is made on site when the charging station is commissioned. The intuitive, safe fast-connection technology saves time and ensures a permanently reliable connection.
Pluggable power modules in a 19" format make it possible to modularly adapt the power of a charging station. The connectors developed by Phoenix Contact are designed for high powers in continuous operation and ensure the availability of the charging station.

The three-phase mains voltage is distributed to the AC/DC converters. The bridgeable terminal blocks from Phoenix Contact enable simple and compact power distribution.
Surge protection for charging stations and home chargers
With CHARX protect, you can protect charging stations and electric cars against damage from surge voltage caused by lightning strikes or switching operations in the grid.
The multifunctional EMpro energy measuring devices acquire the drawn data and offer numerous options for communicating the data to higher-level control and management systems.
Due to their design, direct current systems such as DC charging stations behave differently to alternating current systems during normal operation and in the event of faults. The use of special surge protection devices is therefore necessary.
High availability of charging points, low maintenance costs, and short charging times are crucial for the widespread acceptance of e-mobility. Connection technology plays an important role here.
