Your applications – our solutions
It would not be possible to automate buildings intelligently without controllers or human-machine interfaces (HMIs). Together with sensors and actuators, they make it possible to determine and display operating states and automatically control room functions such as light, heat, and shade. To ensure reliable operation, the control technology must be failsafe and also intuitive when it comes to maintenance. Whether for sending signals, transmitting data, or transforming power – device connections and electronics housings from Phoenix Contact provide proven solutions for numerous applications in building technology.

BC modular electronics housings for building automation
With electronics housings from the BC modular series, you benefit from the convenient operation of the Push-in connection technology on the front of the housing. Each housing chamber can be individually configured to flexibly meet all requirements: for example, for Push-in connections with PCB terminal blocks of the SPT-THR 1,5 and SPT-THR 2,5 series, or with three predefined connection depths. Housing covers with integrated touch display, membrane keypads, and an 8- and 16-position DIN rail connector also ensure optimum adaptation to the device requirements.
- Standard-compliant housing and installation dimensions for use in distribution boards in accordance with DIN 43880
- Module replacement without breaking up the assembly, due to the 8- or 16-pos. HBUS connector for serial and parallel module communication
- Freedom in device development with PCB installation in three spatial directions
PCB terminal blocks and PCB connectors
Versatile PCB terminal blocks and PCB connectors
Controllers and HMIs are as varied as the tasks they perform. Their scope of functions is also largely determined by the physical interfaces to the user. The more intuitively a device can be operated, the more reliably it can automate operating processes. Over the last few decades, PCB terminal blocks and PCB connectors from Phoenix Contact have proven their worth as an intuitive connection solution.
- Connectors and terminal blocks for PCBs
- For pitches from 2.5 to 5.08 mm
- For currents up to 24 A (IEC)/20 A (UL)
- Versions with screw or spring connections
SKEDD direct connectors for pluggable and detachable PCB connections
SKEDD direct connectors for pluggable and detachable PCB connections
The technical equipment needed for control devices is as varied as the tasks they perform. SKEDD direct connectors for PCB connections are mounted directly in the PCB. No other components are required.
- Body-bound rivets for secure interlock without soldering
- Single- and double-row versions for 3.5 mm and 5.0 mm pitches
- With Push-in spring connection or crimp connection
- For currents up to 12 A and voltages up to 320 V
Robust board-to-board connectors for the in-device connection of PCBs
Robust board-to-board connectors for the in-device connection of PCBs
The components of industrial electronics devices are becoming more and more compact. At the same time, these components also offer a wider range of functions and higher performance. These types of devices are based on board-to-board connectors for the in-device connection of several PCBs. They are particularly suitable for decentral and modular applications in building technology such as controllers, frequency converters, or HMIs.
- Compact pitches of 0.8 mm and 1.27 mm
- Shielded and unshielded versions
- Horizontal and vertical versions for different PCB orientations
- For stack heights from 6 to 12 mm
Copper-based data connectors for high bandwidths
Copper-based data connectors for high bandwidths in building control
Modern building technology offers fully automated or user-driven control of numerous functions. Controllers and HMI devices process signals and data around the clock. Higher bandwidths are also required in order to handle the increasing digitalization of buildings. Copper-based data connectors from Phoenix Contact ensure safe and reliable transmission at speeds up to 10 Gbps.
- Standardized pin connector patterns such as RJ45, USB, and D-SUB
- Easy field assembly with fast connections such as IDC, pierce, and spring connection
- Solutions for indoor and outdoor use
- Reliable protection concepts for physical, mechanical, and electrical influences
Device and cable connectors for Single Pair Ethernet
Device and cable connectors for Single Pair Ethernet
Standardized cables and device connectors for Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) really come into their own wherever sensors and actuators are implemented in a confined space and must also be easy to maintain. SPE is the ideal solution for compact and efficient interfaces – for controllers, HMIs, and sensors, for example. The communication protocol for data cabling inside the building uses Single Pair Ethernet to cover the last few meters between the controller and the sensor. Application-specific, optimized cabling is therefore the basis for future-proof networking from the device to the cloud. It allows consistently intelligent and scalable application networking on all levels.
Compact M8 to M12 circular connectors
Compact M8 to M12 circular connectors
Inverters, controllers, or cameras in harsh outdoor environments often require protected interfaces up to IP65/IP67 for safe data transmission to PCs, HMIs, or operating terminals. Circular connectors in metric sizes M8 to M12 demonstrate their advantages here. They are standardized, compact, feature connection compatibility, and are reliable even in demanding environments. They have become an established standard in many applications. The Ethernet-based communication of sensors and actuators is also opening up new areas of application. The wide choice of codings enables uniform and consistent solutions for signal, data, and power transmission.
- For signal transmission with up to 17 positions
- For data rates up to 10 Gbps
- For power up to 16 A/630 V
- Hybrid connectors for data and power
