The Solarline string combiner boxes (SCBs) are used in large ground-mounted systems. The main tasks of the SCBs are to protect the photovoltaic system against surge voltage, to collect and protect PV strings with string fuses, and to disconnect the photovoltaic system from the power source.
Further functions are optional and depend on the equipment.
An example of optional functions is string monitoring, which can be used to measure and monitor the string currents and the system voltage.

Order information: | Selecting PV fuses • Select the PV fuses according to your application and the basic specifications of the panel manufacturer. • The PV panel data sheet usually contains the maximum value for the reverse current capacity of the PV panel. The nominal current of the PV fuse to be selected should always be less than or equal to this maximum value. • Also note the typical power dissipation of the PV fuses. • Likewise note the maximum nominal current of the fuse holder in the SCB (32 A). • The SCBs have been tested with PV fuses from the manufacturer Adler. When PV fuses from other manufacturers are used, there may be deviations in the temperature behavior as well as in the power dissipation and current derating. • Higher ambient temperatures represent an additional strain on the PV fuses. Take a potential reduction in the rated current into account in this kind of application. |
Recommendation | To read the data of the string monitoring module, you can optionally use the “Solarworx” library and the “KERNEL sistemi” function block. The function block is part of the current Solarworx library version. The Solarworx library is available for download in the PLCnext Store and can be purchased in the form of a license.
