Power feed-in modules options

The power module is the central power and supply for the CAPAROC circuit breaker system. All data and signals are collected here and issued via the status output to a PLC for evaluation.

The standard S-R power module monitors trip status and provides remote reset for tripped circuits. Power modules available with communication capabilities include: PROFINET, Ethernet/IP and IO-Link. These modules interface with devices at the cabinet and enable remote access to the devices data.

Access to the system data includes:

  • Status per channel (Off/On/Fault)
  • Current settings per channel
  • Current and voltage output per channel
  • Short circuit and overload detection
  • Under and overvoltage detection
1- and 4-channel circuit breaker modules

1- and 4-channel circuit breaker modules

1-channel modules are available with fixed and adjustable nominal currents, and 4-channel modules are available with adjustable nominal currents. The nominal current of individual channels can be adjusted remotely using the online interface or manually via the LED push-button operation.

2-channel circuit breaker modules

2-channel circuit breaker modules

The 2-channel modules allow you to easily read off the set nominal current directly on the device at any time. These modules can be individually adjusted from2 to 10A or 1 to 4A on the NEC Class 2 versions. Both are equipped with active current limitation to ensure a more efficient utilization of the upstream power supply. The active current limitation restricts short circuit and overload currents to a value that is 1.5 to 2 times the nominal current. This protects the power supply against excessively high currents and prevents output voltage dips.

0 V distribution modules

0 V distribution modules

The 0 V distribution modules are an ideal addition alongside every circuit breaker module. They allow the 0 V potential to be fed back directly via the CAPAROC system. The return conductor from every protected circuit can be conveniently connected in the system. Separate terminal blocks for 0 V distribution are no longer necessary. Blue color-coded pushers make it easy to differentiate between the 0 V and 24 V potentials.

Current rail

Current rail

The current rail ensures the safe and uninterrupted supply of power to the modules. Perform maintenance work at any time without interrupting operation. Unplugging individual modules only removes power to those modules. The rest of the system continues to operate and does not shut down. The CAPAROC system can be extended at any time to meet the needs of your application.

Hazardous location rated modules

Hazardous location rated modules

The CAPAROC circuit breaker system offers solutions for hazardous location applications around the globe. Our Class I, Division 2 rated parts are for use in North America. While our triple rated options are for use in the countries that require the ATEX or IECEx approvals.

NEC Class 2 circuits

NEC Class 2

NEC Class 2 circuits

CAPAROC circuit breaker modules rated up to 4 amps are approved in accordance with NEC Class 2. You can easily configure energy-limited circuits with CAPAROC and be safe from fire and electrical shock hazard. Instead of an NEC Class 2 power supply, you can simply install your high-performance standard power supply along with the CAPAROC system.

 Configurator

Configurator Configure your customized circuit breaker system according to your demands.

The online configurator helps you design an overcurrent protection system that precisely meets your needs. Each project contains a 3D model, detailed bill of materials, data sheet, and a unique solution ID, making it possible to re-enter the project to make changes or additions.

Manual configuration

The orange nominal current assistant dials on the 2-channel modules allow load currents to be manually adjusted from 2 to 10A or 1 to 4A on the NEC Class 2 versions. The nominal current of the 1- and 4-channel modules are adjusted using single push-button operation.

Remote configuration

CAPAROC is equipped with an electronic interlock for protecting nominal current settings. The set currents can be locked remotely or via the PWR LED button on the power module. By pressing the button and briefly holding it down, changes to the setting on the module are blocked.

Remote access/remote reset

The power module with PROFINET interface provides you with remote access to all device data and allows you to perform remote diagnostics and maintenance. With remote access, you can adjust or lock the individual channel current settings, turn them on/off, and even read the current flow.

Transparent operating state

Multi-colored LEDs ensure that the system state is transparent. Each circuit breaker module has one status LED per channel to indicate the current operating state of each channel.

Intelligent power system features

Data driven power modules
Cascaded channel start up
Intelligent tripping
Active current limitation
Intelligent load shedding
Data driven power modules

The power module is the nervous center of the system. All data and signals are collected here and transmitted using either standard or PROFINET power modules.

Cascaded channel start up

CAPAROC cascades the start of all channels sequentially with a standard delay of 50 ms between the individual channels. This ensures that the load on the power supply is controlled and that all loads can be started safely.

Intelligent tripping

All of the circuit breakers can differentiate between overload and short circuit to determine tripping behavior. The software differentiates between start-up and steady-state currents and responds rapidly via the electronics.

Active current limitation

The 2-channel modules have active current limitation which restricts short circuit and overload currents to a value that is 1.5 to 2 times the nominal current. This eliminates the need to oversize your power supply, protecting it against excessively high currents and preventing output voltage dips.

Intelligent load shedding

The total current monitoring function ensures that long-lasting overloads do not occur. If an overload lasts longer than 2 minutes, the modules are disconnected sequentially, starting with the last channel on the last breaker to be connected.

System monitoring and data retrieval

Compatible with PLCnext
Profinet data retrieval
Monitor trip status I > 80%
Compatible with PLCnext

The CAPAROC system easily integrates with PLCnext Technology. Remote access to control cabinets with CAPAROC and PLCnext enables a transparent view on the current status of plants and machines as well as easy remote maintenance from anywhere.

Profinet data retrieval

With the PROFINET (PN) power module, all system data can be queried via the integrated PROFINET interface. You can configure the channels and keep an eye on the current flowing, as well as read off past events from the error log.

Monitor trip status I > 80%

The power module monitors trip status and provides remote reset for tripped circuits. The I 80% feature indicates if the load on a channel exceeds 80% of the nominal setting, so you can respond before a failure occurs.

Reliably supply and distribute power

Power distribution via current rail
Expand your system
Easy power distribution
Power distribution via current rail

The current rails connect the power module with every single module in the system. By connecting the supply line for positive and negative to the power module, the current rails are also supplied directly. You can swap out modules or perform maintenance and the rest of the system remains powered without downtime.

Expand your system

The structure of a CAPAROC system starts with the installation of an initial current rail with 8 or 20 slots. The individual modules are plugged onto the current rail and snapped into place. The system can be expanded with extension rails without the need for tools.

Easy power distribution

Power distribution modules allow the 0 V potential to be fed back directly via the CAPAROC system, decreasing wiring time and eliminating the need for additional terminal blocks. The blue color-coded pushers make it easy to differentiate between the 0 V and 24 V potentials.
