CHARX connect – charging sockets for electric cars and utility vehicles

Charging sockets for electric cars and utility vehicles

The CHARX connect universal vehicle charging inlets enable the AC and DC charging of all types of electric vehicles. Along with type 1 and type 2 AC and CCS (Combined Charging System) charging inlets, GB/T versions are also available for China. The vehicle charging inlets are already being used successfully in electric cars from well-known manufacturers and in all kinds of utility vehicles. They allow electric vehicles to be charged continuously with a charging power of 250 kW, and even up to 500 kW in Boost Mode.

The CCS charging inlets with DC conductor cross-sections of up to 95 mm² now enable safe HPC charging with up to 500 kW. Depending on external factors, such as the ambient temperature, it is therefore now possible to charge electric vehicles in just a few minutes.
Vehicles can be charged continuously with a charging power of 250 kW, and up to 500 kW in Boost Mode.

PT1000 sensors at both DC power contacts

The optimized connection technology minimizes heating of the connection system. The integrated, highly accurate temperature sensors ensure a high level of safety, as the vehicle can dynamically regulate the required charging current based on the temperature evaluation. PT1000 sensors are located at both DC power contacts. The AC range includes a PTC sensor system.

Various types of electric vehicles – from forklift trucks to dump trucks

New generations of electric cars in particular must be able to be charged in a short amount of time with maximum safety. The same applies to electric utility vehicles such as buses, transporters, forklift trucks, tractors, construction machines, mining vehicles, cleaning and disposal vehicles, emergency vehicles, and tow trucks.

Our vehicle charging inlets are the universal charging interface for all vehicle types. They are the vehicle-side counterpart to the AC or DC charging connector. Equipped with a CCS charging inlet, a vehicle can be charged with both direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC).

All vehicle charging inlets have an extremely compact design. In addition, the relevant external dimensions and screw-connection geometries of the CCS charging inlets and AC charging inlets are identical to each other.

This allows manufacturers and retrofitters to plan the same installation space for each electric vehicle regardless of the target market – from buses to motorcycles.

Secure interlock of an HPC charging plug in the vehicle charging inlet during the charging process

All vehicle charging inlets, with the exception of the GB/T DC charging inlet, are equipped with an electromagnetic locking actuator in accordance with standards. It locks the vehicle charging connector on the side of or directly onto the locking clip in the mating face during the charging process.

The actuator bolt is designed to withstand high pull-out forces. This makes it impossible to pull out the charging connector during the charging process.
