With CHARX protect, you can protect charging stations and electric cars against damage from surge voltage caused by lightning strikes or switching operations in the grid. We can provide you with various protective device types for a comprehensive protection concept to ensure that your charging infrastructure remains available at all times – at any time of the day or night, and in any weather.
Patch panel, two RJ45 jacks, CAT5e, 10/100/1000 Mbps, DIN rail adapter, IP20, shield current monitoring, surge protection
Type 3 surge protection, consisting of protective plug and base element, with integrated status indicator and remote signaling for single-phase power supply networks. Nominal voltage: 24 V AC/DC
Patch panel, RJ45 jack on IDC terminal blocks, CAT5e, 10/100/1000 Mbps, DIN rail adapter, IP20, shield contacting with strain relief, shield current monitoring, surge protection
Surge protection in accordance with Class EA (CAT6A), for Gigabit Ethernet (up to 10 Gbps), token ring, FDDI/CDDI, ISDN, and DS1. Suitable for Power over Ethernet (PoE++ / 4PPoE) “Mode A” and “Mode B”. RJ45 attachment plug with separate grounding cable and ground connection snap-on foot for NS 35 DIN rails.
Type 3 surge protection, consisting of protective plug and base element, with integrated status indicator and remote signaling for single-phase power supply networks. Nominal voltage: 24 V AC/DC
Patch panel, RJ45 jack on push-in terminal blocks, CAT5e, 10/100/1000 Mbps, DIN rail adapter, IP20, shield contacting with strain relief, shield current monitoring, surge protection
Attachment plug with surge protection for two SHDSL telecommunications interfaces (ports). Connection: RJ45 (RJ12/RJ11) and plug-in screw terminal block (COMBICON). Alternatively, can be snapped onto a DIN rail.
Compact, non-pluggable lightning current/surge arrester free of leakage current based on wear-free carbon spark gap technology for 3-phase power supply networks with separate N and PE (5-conductor system: L1, L2, L3, N, PE), suitable for use in the unmetered area, discharge capacity of up to 50 kA for lightning protection levels III and IV.
CHARX protect basic: Replacement plug for surge protective devices from the VALVETRAB EV-T2 product range for the N-PE path.

A charging station for electric vehicles is as complex as the vehicle itself: From the power supply and the charging controller to the cables for Ethernet communication, there are many sensitive components. They need to be protected to ensure a long service life and that the charging process is uninterrupted. A comprehensive protection concept therefore consists of three areas:
Feed-in protection: Type 2 protective devices and type 1+2 combined lightning current and surge arresters protect feed-in against dangerous surge voltages that may be caused by lightning strikes and switching operations in the grid.
Protection for 12 and 24 V devices: With type 3 surge arresters, you can ensure the long-term function of the numerous sensitive components with 12 or 24 V supply voltage.
Protection for communication: Components for communication are usually connected via Ethernet and should also be protected.

Even though the main distribution box already has surge protection, the protective effect is often insufficient for long lines to the home charger. Due to its weatherproof and shockproof IP65 housing, CHARX protect retrofit can be easily installed in a carport under or even next to the home charger.
The integrated type 2 protective device reliably protects home chargers with charging powers of 11 to 22 kW and the connected electric vehicles against expensive damage due to voltage peaks that can be caused by lightning strikes or switching operations in the supply grid.
To match the existing cable routing, the feeding AC cable can be fed into the housing either at the top or at the bottom. Internal wiring is particularly fast with the push-in connection.
