LED status indicator in the protective cover of the infrastructure charging socket

Round or square design
Choose whether a round or square protective cover better fits the design of your home charger station or charging station. With one-handed operation, it can be opened effortlessly with the charging connector, without needing to use your other hand. Its fiberglass-reinforced housing protects the charging station against weather and vandalism.

With or without LED indicator
An LED status indicator integrated in the protective cover can be selected as an option. This allows users to see the status of the charging point at a glance. The RGB LEDs can be controlled freely, with glowing, flashing, and pulsing in all RGB colors possible. The precise light guide technology ensures a homogeneous light pattern with optimum diffusion. The power is supplied to the LEDs via mounting screws, thus simplifying installation.

Infrastructure charging socket shutter

Safe touch protection
The shutter ensures reliable touch protection for all power and signal contacts in accordance with IEC 61851-1, IEC 62196-1, and IEC 62196-2. It therefore increases electrical safety and also protects the charging station against vandalism and humidity. Standards in some countries, such as Spain, Portugal, Great Britain, France, Sweden, Italy, and Switzerland require touch protection.

Intuitive operation
Operation is intuitive – simply inserting the charging plug opens the shutter. The charging connector is not rotated or slid.

Compatibility
Our shutter is compatible with all type 2 charging sockets and protective covers from Phoenix Contact.

With or without PTC
temperature sensors

In order to protect people and the charging station, the optional temperature monitoring can be used to interrupt the charging process in the event of overheating at the power contacts.

With three or four-pos. locking actuator
The charging socket is available with either a three-pos. or four-pos. locking actuator and corresponding connecting cable.

Silver-plated, fully molded contacts
The silver-plated surfaces of the power and signal contacts ensure efficient power transmission, optimum corrosion protection, and a long service life. They are fully molded and therefore waterproof and dirtproof.

Plug-in connecting cables for the infrastructure charging socket

By choosing the separately available cable set, you can determine the charging power of your charging socket:

  • Single- or three-phase cable
  • 20 A or 32 A charging current
  • 0.3 to 2.0 m cable length (additional lengths on request)

The plug-in connecting cables simplify installation and subsequent replacement of the charging socket in the event of maintenance.

Whether it is making a phone call or carrying their shopping – in everyday charging situations, electric car drivers often only have one hand free to connect the charging cable to the charging station.

That is why we have consistently designed our AC charging sockets for one-handed operation: Both the protective cover and the shutter can be opened effortlessly with the charging connector, without needing to use your other hand. A small feature that makes a big difference and is appreciated by many of our customers.

PTC temperature sensors at the power contacts of the CHARX connect modular AC charging sockets

The optional temperature sensors reliably protect the charging socket from overheating, which can occur due to foreign objects or contamination, for example. This protects users from danger and prevents expensive damage to the charging station.

The sensors consist of a chain of PTC resistors, located at each power contact. By detecting the resistance values, the charging controller can initiate an immediate shutdown when a limit temperature is exceeded.
