Adam Jallow Janneh - Customer Serivce Administrator

Adam Jallow Janneh

Who are you and what is your job at Phoenix Contact?

My name is Adam Jallow Janneh, a Gambian born British, with a BA in Business Administration and a MA in Personnel and Development. I value knowledge and positivity, topped with the belief that every soul has its own purpose. We just need to know ourselves enough to make the right choices, work hard, be patient and be consistent. I have interest in “The Customer Journey” and passionate about operations support. I have 20 years’ experience working in the service industry starting from the grassroots to management level. At some point in my career I had to step down from my responsibilities to support my family. Today I have no regrets, doing that gave me the opportunity to take a break, reflect, grow and start all over again.

Here at Phoenix Contact UK, I work within the customer service department supporting the returns and claims process, liaising with different departments in UK and Germany to provide solutions for our customers at the quickest possible time whilst looking after the company’s bottom line.

What is special about your job and why do you like doing it?

I enjoy helping others and that is what I do every day when I provide solutions to our customers and internal colleagues. I am a self-motivated, result driven person and always feel fulfilled when we achieve desired outcomes. Phoenix Contact provides me with financial independence that gives me the mind space to grow and do more greater things. Being a working mom gives me the opportunity to be a good role model for my kids. When I was approached for this job, I looked up the company online and was worried I might not fit in as it came across as quite technical and most likely would be male dominated workplace . Guess what, yes it might be true. However the unwavering support I receive daily from the team is why I’m still here after 3 years and excited about the future with Phoenix Contact.

What are you doing in your private life to make a difference?

I’m interested in the quality of life for people living with chronic illnesses with special interest in Epilepsy. I am a globally recognised epilepsy advocate. I volunteer with Epilepsy Action UK as a Befriender, helping people with epilepsy navigate through daily life challenges. I believe in giving back to society.

I am also the President (CEO) and Cofounder of a registered charitable organisation in The Gambia called Foundation for Epilepsy and Stigma Support – Gambia (FESS-Gam). FESS-Gam’s vision is to protect the rights of people with epilepsy and ensure they are able to live, achieve their full potential and meaningfully contribute to society. Since the launch of FESS-Gam in December 2020, my passion and strong leadership skills have inspired a generation of young professionals who are ready to catalysts the changes needed to bring epilepsy out of the shadows and end the stigma and discrimination faced by people living with the condition. My achievements in giving back provides me with the self-belief, self-compassion, all the selves I need to excel here at Phoenix Contact.

What (unusual) hobby do you have?

I enjoy exploring into the inner self of people, especially young minds. I do this unconsciously and enjoy rating people’s wellbeing through normal interactions. I believe my positive nature is unique and can uplift anyone feeling low about anything.
