Hannover Messe 2025: Shaping the future together
In a changing world, the connection between people and technology is the key to a sustainable future. At Hannover Messe 2025, Phoenix Contact invites you to experience how our vision of the All Electric Society, i.e., a fully electrified and digitally networked world, becomes a reality.
We would like to invite you to discuss with us using three specific examples how we are shaping a sustainable future together.
DC grids in industry
How can you use a DC grid to create carbon-neutral manufacturing?
The Digital Factory
What possibilities does the digitalization of your manufacturing open up and how do you protect it against cyberattacks?
Efficient control cabinet building
Where can you optimize your control cabinet manufacturing to increase efficiency and productivity?
Visit us in Hall 9, Booth F40 and discover how we can shape the future together. We look forward to welcoming you and presenting our latest innovations. Let's set the course together for a sustainable and networked world.
Our top topics at Hannover Messe 2025
Direct current – the industrial power grid of the future
The simple feed-in, efficient storage and distribution of renewable energy make DC grids a central lever for greater sustainability in industry. Battery storage systems are decisive for stable network quality, which means that all loads in the network, such as charging stations for electric vehicles, are optimally and consistently supplied. We will show you groundbreaking technologies and products in the fields of DC grids, battery storage systems, and charging technology.
Data transparency for increased productivity and sustainability
The basis of a sustainable factory is data. Data must first be collected and evaluated to enable the greatest possible transparency regarding consumption and processes. This is the first step toward sustainability. Only operators who know where their resources are being used can develop levers to minimize consumption and optimize processes. In addition to the implementation of new technologies with particularly high cybersecurity requirements and the connectivity of OT and IT, the legal requirements for sustainability are also increasing. With Digital Factory now, we provide scalable solutions for all decision-makers from a single source for the realization of daily challenges for the factory of the future – whether for existing systems or new systems.
Greater efficiency in control cabinet building
Control cabinet building is one of the key industries for implementing the necessary infrastructure for the energy transition. In addition, the electrification, networking, and automation of all sectors are driving a surge in demand for switching and control systems. There is only one solution for adapting the capacities of the control cabinet builders to this task: control cabinet building must become more efficient! Phoenix Contact is the partner for holistic, scalable concepts that achieve maximum efficiency in engineering and manufacturing in control cabinet building.

What is the Hannover Messe?
The Hannover Messe is the leading trade fair for international industry. It is based on several leading trade fairs on the key topics of modern industry:
- Integrated Automation, Motion & Drives: International leading trade fair for integrated automation, industrial IT, drive and fluid technology
- Digital Factory: International leading trade fair for integrated processes and IT solutions
- Energy: International leading trade fair for integrated energy systems and mobility
- Industrial Supply: International leading trade fair for supplier solutions and light construction
- Research and Technology: International leading trade fair for research, development and the transfer of technology
The leading trade fairs are oriented toward various technologies and areas of application. In 2018, the leading trade fairs Industrial Automation and MDA were merged to create a new, annual event – Integrated Automation, Motion & Drives (IAMD). The IAMD covers the entire spectrum of industrial automation, IT, drive and fluid technology. This provides companies with a platform to showcase solutions for intelligent production processes. This turns the smart factory into a reality. Phoenix Contact is represented at the new leading trade fair in Hall 9.
Phoenix Contact at the Hannover Messe
Phoenix Contact has a special connection with the industrial trade fair, and not just due to its close physical proximity. The Blomberg-based company has been at each Hannover Messe with its technological innovations for more than 70 years.
Along with Siemens and Rittal, Phoenix Contact is now one of the largest exhibitors at the Hannover Messe. Our experts will be providing you with the latest information on the topics of automation and electrical engineering. They will be presenting you with future-proof solutions for the Industry 4.0 era. With over 100 years of experience, Phoenix Contact is already working on tomorrow’s intelligent production, today.
Our highlights from over 70 years of the Hannover Messe
Phoenix Contact and the Hannover Messe: A long friendship
Phoenix Contact has been represented at the Hannover Messe with technological innovations since 1953.
The world’s largest industry trade fair is the highlight of the business year: New products are presented to the public here for the first time.
The company has experienced some very special highlights throughout the 70 plus years of the trade fair.
Obama visit: Into the future with the Chancellor and the President
The USA was the partner country of the Hannover Messe in 2016. The US President at the time, Barack Obama, took this opportunity to visit Hanover. During the traditional tour of the trade fair with Chancellor Angela Merkel, he was shown outstanding technical innovations.
On this occasion, Frank Stührenberg and Jack Nehlig demonstrated the new e-mobility fast charging connector to them at the Phoenix Contact booth. A special highlight: The DeLorean DMC-12 sports car from the film series “Back to the Future” was rebuilt to illustrate the topic of fast charging technology. President Obama was not only enthusiastic about the innovative charging technology. He also impressed the Chancellor and the Phoenix Contact CEO, Frank Stührenberg, with his film knowledge.
The history of the Hannover Messe
Origin
The self-proclaimed motto of the largest industrial trade fair in the world is “Tradition and Innovation”. It was established in 1947 as the “Hannover Export Fair 1947” under the banner of the German company Deutsche Messe- und Ausstellungs-AG, Hannover-Laatzen. After the Second World War, the new industrial trade fair was to provide a counterpoint to the Leipziger Messe in the former GDR and to emphasize the innovative power of West Germany.
Growing internationalization
As a venue for international contacts, the Hannover Messe quickly attracted attention from international guests. As early as 1950, there were exhibitors from ten different countries, one of these being the USA. Over the years, the trade fair has become increasingly international. The first partner country was Brazil in 1980. Since then, companies of a different country have presented their products each year.
The Hannover Messe today
Today, the leading trade fair is the barometer for technological developments. The exhibition is currently dominated by topics such as the Internet of Things, industrial digitalization, robotics and renewable energies. Numerous innovations for Industry 4.0 – the digital industrial revolution – will continue to be introduced over the next few years.
