Frequently asked questions
What benefits does push-pull locking offer me with the M12?
With push-pull locking, screwing is no longer necessary. This saves you a lot of time when connecting the automation components. The improved handling also allows device connectors to be arranged more compactly. This meets the desire for miniaturization and economical cabling.
How much time can I save thanks to push-pull?
By eliminating the need for screwing, you reduce the installation time by up to 80%. Extrapolated, you thus achieve enormous savings potential when mounting.
Are the new connectors qualified in the same way as the standard connectors?
The push-pull connectors are defined in IEC 61076-2-010, which is an extension of and is based on the proven M12 standard with screw locking mechanism. The only change to the established M12 is that a recess is added to the M12 thread. The proven pro... View more

The mechanical and electrical properties are also identical.

Yes, besides the push-pull contour, the device plugs still have a thread. This allows you to plug and screw both push-pull cable connectors and standard screw cable connectors in the field.
There is no suitable cable connector in a specific coding on the market yet. Can I still use the push-pull housings on my device?
Due to backward compatibility, the device can already be equipped with push-pull device connectors. The device is thus already push-pull ready and can be plugged in with a standard screw cable connector until the cable connectors are available.

Likewise, the portfolio is modular as usual. All contact carriers with signal coding can be combined with the signal housings.
In the past, I still had to install an O-ring for the IP67 protection class. How do I install the new molded seal?
The molded seal is integrated in the push-pull housing and no longer needs to be retrofitted. This eliminates one process step for you, which is a great advantage in terms of installation time and quality.
Can I also use the angled THR contact inserts with the push-pull housings?
The new housings fit all THR M12 codings (for angled and straight inserts).
Are housings in stainless steel also possible?
Yes, please consult your responsible sales contact about this.
