High Power Charging
The technology that enables megawatt charging with CCS
The Megawatt Charging System (MCS)
Charging powers of up to 3.75 MW for heavy utility vehicles
The Megawatt Charging System (MCS) is set to become an internationally standardized fast charging system for heavy utility vehicles, enabling charging powers of up to 3.75 MW.
Since the CharIN MCS task force was created in 2018, Phoenix Contact has been working on defining requirements for the development of the MCS charging standard. Since 2020, we have also been actively promoting the global standardization of the MCS connector in IEC TS 63379 by leading the international project team of the IEC and the German mirror committee in the DKE (the German Commission for Electrotechnical, Electronic, and Information Technologies).
From Q2 2026, we expect to offer the first MCS charging cables for charging powers of up to 2.25 MW (1,500 A at 1,500 V rated voltage) with the high quality usually associated with Phoenix Contact – reliable, powerful, and easy to maintain. In the medium term, we also intend to launch MCS vehicle charging inlets on the market.
