WLAN 1100 and WLAN 2100 – the WLAN solution for machine building

You can install a WLAN interface in your machine or plant systems quickly and easily with the WLAN 1100 wireless module. With the WLAN 1100, you can create a local WLAN network (access point), and, for example, integrate your machine into a higher-level WLAN network (WLAN adapter). The WLAN 1100 features high-speed, stable WLAN reception. The extremely robust space-saving module with integrated antennas has been well thought out down to the last detail for applications in machine building and systems manufacturing.

WLAN 1100, the cost-effective turnkey solution

A standard industrial WLAN solution for use in machines and plant systems consists of a WLAN module, antenna cables, and the best available robust antennas. This takes up large amounts of space, is complex to install, and is often very expensive.

With the WLAN 1100, however, the wireless module and antennas are combined in a single compact device that can be easily screwed to the control cabinet or the machine.

Your advantage: A cost-effective turnkey solution that is easy to install.

WLAN 1100 single-hole mounting

WLAN 1100 is easy to mount

Simple mounting and connection via single-hole mounting

The WLAN 1100 wireless module is as easy to mount as an antenna with single-hole mounting. A 40 mm hole on the machine or the control cabinet is all that is required. The wiring space of the WLAN 1100 projects through this hole into the machine or control cabinet interior and is fastened with a nut. The power supply and Ethernet are connected via Push-in connector and RJ45 connector respectively. Because the WLAN 1100 does not take up any space in the control cabinet, it can be retrofitted easily at any time.

Your advantage: Fast and space-saving installation.

Full reception bars with the WLAN 1100

Full reception with the WLAN 1100

Full reception with the optimized antenna technology and WLAN IEEE 802.11n

Good signal reception is key for high-speed and reliable wireless communication. Installation of high-quality antennas is therefore essential. Two specially developed different antenna types are combined and integrated in the WLAN 1100. This consists of one 360° omni-directional antenna and one circular-polarized directional antenna. Together with the high-performance WLAN 802.11n module, the WLAN 1100 wireless module enables full reception at all times, even in adverse industrial conditions.

Two powerful integrated antennas incorporating MIMO technology (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) ensure fast and stable wireless reception wherever it is needed. This significantly increases the robustness, speed, and range of your wireless communication.

Your advantage: Full reception at all times.

A metal profile falling onto the WLAN 1100 module

WLAN 1100 can withstand even heavy impacts

Also survives harsh environments

Modules mounted outside the protective control cabinet must be able to survive harsh environments on a permanent basis. The housing must also be able to withstand heavy knocks and impacts. The WLAN 1100 housing is extremely robust and also withstands high mechanical loads and impacts (IK08 impact resistance).

Your advantage: Long service life, even in harsh environments.

WLAN 1100 with security shield

Particularly secure with security standards and user profiles

High security with two virtual access points and IP filters

Protecting your network and your data against misuse and manipulation is important to us. The WLAN 1100 wireless module supports current WLAN security standards as well as hardware-based AES encryption. Furthermore, different WLAN access points can be set up for two different user groups, e.g., service staff and operators, each with their own password and access filters. Thus, for example, service staff have unlimited WLAN access to all devices in the network, while operators can only access the visualization server.

Your advantage: Secure against manipulation and misuse.

Controlling the WLAN 1100 wireless module with a PLC

WLAN 1100 can be configured via CLI

Easy to control via the PLC – via CLI commands

The WLAN 1100 can be configured easily or controlled for runtime via http-CLI commands using a PC or PLC. Thus, flexible solutions are available for many requirements. For example, several WLAN 1100 modules can be configured quickly and easily with one command. To assign a new single-use WLAN password to WLAN users for each connection, for example, network administration tasks can be automated via the controller. This is a simple solution to the security risk arising through use of shared, static WLAN passwords.

Your advantage: Full control for machine programmers.

Mesh access points on production space

FL WLAN 2100 with the WLAN Mesh operating mode

WLAN Mesh for automation networks

With the new WLAN Mesh operating mode of the FL WLAN 2100 wireless modules, WLAN networks are easy to establish and ranges in existing WLAN networks can be increased. By using numerous mesh access points, you can cover larger areas without having to lay cables. The WLAN Mesh function is also available on older WLAN 2100 modules by updating the firmware.

Your advantage: Create autonomous, self-organizing ad hoc networks.
