Crimp connectors from the respective connector series can be combined with almost all headers of the associated series. A special feature is the low installed height as compared to other connection technologies. The plug-in direction is parallel to the conductor axis. Versions are available with or without screw or latching flange, and with or without pull-out aid.

Crimp connection The crimp connection as a solderless joining method enables a fast and extremely reliable conductor connection process that can be automated.
- Variable production run startup with full or semi-automation
- Stable connections with connection high tensile strength
- Flexible in use with low contact resistance
- Easy assembly with simple production monitoring
- Long service life with high resistance to the environment, vibration, and shocks
The crimp connection in detail
The crimp connection is particularly efficient in systems where a high volume of conductors are assembled. The wire and crimp contact are connected via crimping pliers or a crimping device. Taped crimp contacts are available for fully automated processing.
Numerous different crimp connections have become established. For a reliable connection, it is essential that the wire cross section, crimp contact, and crimping tool are compatible. If the conductor is placed in the crimp contact from above and the edges of the contact tabs press into the conductor from above on both sides during forming, this is a B crimp. O-crimps are used for rigid conductors.
Since crimping tools are subject to a certain degree of wear, the crimping process must be monitored during the production of large series. The requirements for crimp connections are defined in DIN EN 60352-2. The tensile strength of the crimp connection and crack-free deformation of the crimp contact are proof of the quality of a crimp connection. Crimping must not result in impermissible elongation of crimp contacts, as this would prevent them from snapping into the contact carrier correctly. The contact is released using a removal tool. Assembly tools are also available for very thin conductors.
M12 connectors with crimp connection are characterized by their low space requirement and low-cost production in series production. Crimp connection technology enables fast, automated connection wherever large volumes of cables must be assembled. The extremely compact connector designed for assembly is suitable for railway applications.

For circular connectors for industrial use, the crimp connection provides a high level of electrical and mechanical safety, e.g., against vibrations and thermal stress. The circular connector product line with crimp connection ranges from signal connectors in sizes M17 and M23 and hybrid connectors to power connectors in sizes M17 to M58.
It is particularly worthwhile to use a crimp connection when assemblies of the same design are required in high volumes. The advantage of this technology is speed and quality. If the connection area, cable, and tool are well matched, this leads to a permanently stable connection.
Fixed-position and modular contact inserts with crimp connection for heavy-duty connectors are characterized by the low space requirement of the terminal points and low-cost production in series production.
The punched-rolled crimp contacts from Phoenix Contact can be processed quickly and easily with open crimping. Along with taped products for high volume crimping, individual contacts are also available for flexible field assembly.
