Green logistics
7 years ago we decided that we wanted to do more to reduce waste and improve our environmental footprint. The below implementation of ideas have been a collective team effort and we look forward to continuing to develop more new green initiatives in the coming years.
2017 - Empty Bin boxes shipped back to HQ Direct on full truck
Maximising space on each truck
2018 – Re-use boxes from deliveries
All off cuts of DIN Rail from the Value Added Department are also recycled.
2019 – Paper packaging now used to pack boxes
All packaging is also made from recycled content.
2020 – LED Lighting and off-set carbon neutral shipping
LED lighting was installed in our warehouse to save energy.
All packages sent via UPS are off-set carbon neutral. Total off-set in 2022 was 27,44 metric tons of CO2e. This is equivalent to driving an average car over 644,000 miles.
2021 – Stopped using bubble wrap
Our packaging no longer contains any plastic fillers.
2022- New packaging machine
Our new packaging machine now means that at least 400,000 bags per year of the products we send in bags to a major customer are fully recyclable and any other labelled bags we use are now made from 30% recycled content.
2023- Plastic outer packaging changed
Plastic Strapping on boxes is now paper strapping.
Shrink wrap for pallets is now made from 30% recycled content.
Heavy tape used on large cardboard boxes is now made from paper tape.
2024 onwards
Best Green Practices and Best practices for all Warehouse and Assembly – There will be yearly training for all logistics employees to ensure we continually evolve and improve our processes.
