In an AS-Interface system, each device (slave) has a unique communication address. The addresses can be assigned via the master or via an addressing device. This device facilitates starting up an AS-Interface system. It can be used to provide the bus devices with an address quickly and easily without a real bus configuration having to be present. In addition, the addressing device can be used to read out entire bus segments. It is able to test the function of the inputs and outputs of slaves. The addressing device supports the extended functions of AS-Interface specifications 3.0. For F-Line modules and ME-Line modules, a special addressing cable with a cinch connection is used. S-Line modules can be connected with the addressing device via a standard M12-M12 cable.
