What is redundancy?

Even brief failure of the 24 V supply can cause serious damage. You should therefore design a redundant power supply solution.

At least one additional power supply unit

In the event that one of the power supply units fails, the other takes over supplying the load.  

In the event that one of the power supply units fails, the other takes over supplying the load.

Redundancy refers to a state of overlap or overflow. This means that there is at least one additional power supply unit present.

  • "n+1" redundancy: 3 power supply units each work with a nominal current of 10 A to supply a total of 20 A.
  • "1+1" redundancy: 2 modules with 20 A each are connected in parallel on the output side in order to supply a 20 A load.

In the event of an internal device fault or failure, the other device automatically takes over the entire power supply.

100% redundancy in the event of short circuit

Diodes or redundancy modules decouple the power supply units connected in parallel. Only then, in the event of a short circuit of one of the power supply units, does the other device continue to supply the full power. The load is now supplied even in the event of a short circuit in the supply lines.
