Solar carport in Belgium covers the building’s energy requirements

Economic and ecological energy consumption.

Project goal

With a solar system installed on a carport, our Belgian subsidiary is able to produce an average of 100 kWh of energy per day with a maximum peak power of 40 kWp. This covers the entire energy consumption of a building.

From the initial idea to implementation in several phases

Encouraging ecological energy consumption and ecological solutions has been a focus of Belgian legislation in recent years. This led to a major change in the energy landscape, which presented significant challenges for the existing energy infrastructure. In particular, the energy crisis of 2022 opened the eyes of the general public to the inefficient use of energy.

The unique MINT energy management system from Phoenix Contact enables the user to consume energy in the most economical and ecological way. This principle even encourages users to invest in local power generation (i.e., solar power, wind power, power-to-X, etc.) and in local energy storage (i.e., batteries), both of which were also extremely high in demand due to the energy crisis.

Construction of the solar carport at our Belgian subsidiary

All of these aspects led the Belgian subsidiary to come up with the idea to develop a kind of showroom. There, visitors can get acquainted with the system and experience the effectiveness of this measure firsthand.

Implementation was easier than expected, as part of the parking lot was converted into a small solar farm. Specifically, the Belgian team worked together with Enerdeal, a leading company in solar solutions, to create a concrete-based solar carport that has an industrial look, but is extremely easy to install.

Using the solar carport as an example, many customers have already been able to see for themselves the positive impact that local solar production has on energy management.

Solar carport supplies energy

With this solar system and all other technologies, we want to position ourselves as an innovator and technical pioneer in the energy revolution. Rather than just talk about it, we want to show how it works.
