Strengthening interpersonal and material values

Passing on love and sustainability: Phoenix Contact China launched the first “AES Youth Freecycle” event for the common good on Youth Day on May 4. Here, unused items were passed on to new owners.

As their standard of living improves, many people accumulate possessions over the years which, if left unused, lead to a considerable waste of resources. To give these items new value, Phoenix Contact China urges people to donate these unused items. They are then passed on to new owners via the blind box concept.

Creating connections that go beyond the shared objects

Low entry barriers and a high level of participation: More than 1,000 people took part in the campaign in May. Items such as children’s toys, household goods, books, publications, and arts and crafts have set off on new adventures. At zero cost, without emissions, and with sustainability. In addition to the value of the items, donors and recipients had the opportunity to create a personal connection. The discussions about the donated items, the surprise effect when opening the blind boxes, and ultimately the will to do good led to a great multiplier effect. A connection between individuals, the community, and even the planet.

All “AES Youth” participants continue to spread the power of sustainability, translating good will into concrete actions and making sustainability visible. A continuation of the event is already being planned.

Sustainable handling of objects

So cool to be an “AES Youth”! Behind the exchange of unused items lies not only the surprise of opening blind boxes, but also the visualization of sustainability.
