Selecting, Copying, Moving, and Deleting Elements

The following sections describe the various operations that are common to all elements visible in the workspace. You can use these functions as a reference for performing operations with elements.

Selecting/deselecting elements

To...Do the following...
Select a single elementClick the element in the workspace.
Select all visible elementsPress <Ctrl + A>. (Selection excludes mounting rails.)
Select several elements by draggingPosition the cursor outside the elements and drag out a rectangle around all the elements you want to select.

You can use the buttons for element selection mode in the upper right corner to define how elements are framed during mouse selection.
Select several elements by clickingHold the <Ctrl> or <Shift> key while clicking the elements you want to select.
Deselect an elementHold the <Ctrl> key while clicking the elements you want to deselect or press <Esc>.

Currently selected elements are highlighted in yellow. Exception: If you select a mounting rail, the mounted elements are not highlighted, but they are always moved together with the rail.

Copying and pasting elements

To...Do the following...
Copy and paste by shortcutPress <Ctrl+C> to copy the selection to the clipboard, then press <Ctrl+V> to paste the selection in the workspace.

In the workspace, the copied object will be placed right to the selected object (see the note below).
Copy and paste by draggingKeep the <Ctrl> key pressed while dragging the mouse cursor.
Copy and paste via the radial menuRight-click the selection and click the Copy button in the radial menu, then right-click another object and click the Paste button in the radial menu.

Note
You can select an item on the mounting rail before pasting in order to define the position of the copy. The copy is placed to the right of the selected object. If you deselect the copied object after copying, the object is added to the mouse cursor. You can then place the object at any valid position by left-clicking the mouse button.

Moving elements

To...Do the following...
Move element(s)Hold down the left mouse button as you drag the selection to the new position.
Move elements along the mounting rail rulerKeep the <Shift> key pressed while dragging the selection on the mounting rail,
The element "snaps in" with the measurement steps (lines) that are currently visible for the rail ruler. The more you zoom in, the smaller the steps the element is moved (max. 1/10 mm).

Deleting elements

To...Do the following...
Delete by shortcutPress <Del> to delete the selection.
Delete via the radial menuRight-click the selection and click the Delete button in the radial menu.
Delete via project treeActivate the check box(es) for the objects to delete and press <Del>.
