Switchover in test operation during signal box migration When migrating signal boxes in test operation, simply switch between the old and new system. Find out more now in our application example for modernizing railway infrastructure.

Railway infrastructure at night

Application

When converting to digital signal box technology, the new system is usually set up alongside the existing infrastructure. After extensive testing, switchover to the devices of the outdoor installation takes place. This can be done either in one go with immediate commissioning and dismantling of the old system or alternatively in several stages as part of nighttime test operations.
In the case of a test operation, the signal box must be switched back to the old system for daytime operation. This makes it necessary to switch back and forth between the old and new systems several times until the new technology has been fully tested and is finally put into operation.

Electromechanical devices are required for these switching operations, which can be dismantled after final commissioning without interfering with the wiring. Knife-disconnect terminal blocks from Phoenix Contact enable precisely this flexible and safe solution.
