The important standards for railroad technology are EN 45545 for fire protection and EN 50155, which is often also referred to as the railroad standard. This in turn includes: Requirements for shock and vibration (EN 61373) and electromagnetic compatibility (EN 50121). In order to make these railroad-relevant standards easier to understand and to show you which products and solutions Phoenix Contact has in its portfolio for railroad technology, we have created the documents described below for you. Moreover, Phoenix Contact has been certified in accordance with the International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS) since April 2008.

Railway Guide for norms and standards in railroad technology
Our guide gives you an overview of applicable norms and standards that are internationally relevant for the rail industry. The requirements and areas of application for the railroad standards are explained and clearly supported by graphics. It also explains how to implement the necessary tests.
The current download contains information about fire protection in accordance with EN 45545 and will expanded successively. The document will be supplemented with further railroad-related topics. The next update will include shock and vibration testing (EN 61373, EN 50155 and IEC 60068).
