The switchgear and controlgear assembly Secure Edge Box (SEB) is used as a secure interface between the production network and higher-level IT networks, external service providers, or cloud systems.
The Secure Edge Box segments the production network. Segmentation improves network security and enables authorized external VPN access.
Unauthorized access is blocked by the firewall of the integrated mGuard router. The firewall allows only the necessary data traffic in order to optimally protect the segmented network.
VPN access can be enabled with a switch in the housing door. Optionally, VPN access is also possible via the mGuard Secure Cloud.
Active VPN connections are visualized by a signal light on top of the housing. The door contact provides additional tamper protection by sending a message to the control system when the door is opened.
The Secure Edge Box is optimized for use with the switchgear and controlgear assembly Data Collection Box (see “Accessories”). The integrated edge PC enables data acquisition of connected sensors of the Data Collection Box (e.g., energy measuring devices, flow meters) as well as further process data. The data is saved and visualized locally. Data can be passed to higher-level systems as well as established cloud systems.
