Applications
The smart grid is a continuing evolution for power supply companies and power supply technologies, as well as for regulations that play a key role in modernizing the grid. The global IEC 61850 standard ensures the interoperability, security, and integration of systems and creates the basis for scalable, flexible architectures in modern power grids.
The Raptor switches meet the stringent requirements of IEC 61850 and IEEE 1613 standards and are specifically designed for power supply and distribution applications. They operate reliably and efficiently, even under extreme environmental conditions. As an option, the switches offer a powerful, flexible platform for additional applications. This allows operators to integrate solutions for cybersecurity, automation, and decentralized data processing directly into their industrial networks.
Product features
Protect your network with the extensive security functions
Protection for your critical infrastructure network
Critical infrastructures require a high level of protection. To this end, our Raptor switches feature extensive security functionalities to protect your network from cyberattacks and unauthorized access.
Functions such as VLANs enable the segmentation of networks. Communications between the individual segments can be controlled and managed. Changes to network hardware can be monitored reliably with user authentication and syslog support. Other security features such as the integrated firewall, the NAT function, and IPsec ensure that your network is secure.
The managed switches meet the stringent requirements of the IEC 61850 and IEEE 1613 standards
Managed switches for stringent requirements
In energy and infrastructure applications, network solutions have to withstand extreme environmental conditions. This is exactly what the Raptor managed switches were developed for. They meet the stringent requirements of the IEC 61850 and IEEE 1613 international standards and are therefore ideal for use in demanding environments.
The switches impress with their high electromagnetic immunity, extended temperature range of -40 to +85°C, and exceptional shock and vibration resistance. They work reliably even under extreme conditions and ensure stable performance in complex networks.
The modular platform of the Raptor switches offers many possibilities
Modular design of the switches
The modular Raptor switches provide an adaptable platform. They can be individually extended with different supply and communication modules. The number of ports can also be increased via an extension module. For example, the SFP module options include additional customization possibilities.
This enables requirements such as scalable network performance, high speed, and long operating times to be met. The modularity of our switches improves reliable energy management in the network, reduces total cost of ownership, and operational overheads.
MCP CoProcessor: Smart extension
The MCP CoProcessor is an optional module for the managed switches in the Raptor product family. It integrates an industrial PC (IPC) directly into the switching fabric and thus extends the functions of the network.
The MCP CoProcessor makes it possible to supplement the proven network and security features of the Raptor switches with powerful third-party applications for cybersecurity, automation, and decentralized data analysis.
EP 7200, EP 7400, and EP 7500 managed switches
The managed switches with a low-profile 19" design have a powerful Layer 2 and Layer 3 feature set. The EP 7400 and EP 7500 versions can be customized with a total of four different communication modules as well as two different power supply modules. The EP 7400 managed switches can be extended with PoE functions, while the EP 7500 versions supplement the basic housing with additional security features.
In contrast to the modular EP 7400 and EP 7500 versions, the EP 7200 series managed switches have predefined Ethernet port options. With up to 32 ports, the EP 7200 managed switches have a high port density and a Lite Layer 3 feature set.
