With a design width of just 12 mm per channel, VALVETRAB compact is the narrowest type 2 surge arrester in the world and still offers excellent performance data. Over a design width of just 48 mm, you can implement excellent protection against surge voltages in a 5-conductor system.

The arrester implements a protection level of 1.5 kV and therefore also meets the requirements of type 3 device protection. VALVETRAB compact limits voltage peaks to such an extent that machines, systems and household appliances are no longer harmed.

In industrial and building installations with an external lightning protection system, type 2 surge protection is the second protection stage after the type 1 lightning arresters.

Due to the high rated voltage of 350 V AC, VALVETRAB compact arresters can be used worldwide, even with an unstable power supply with high mains voltage fluctuations.
The protection level of the arrester combination is always below 1.5 kV.

Wiring and labeling

The base elements and plugs can be rotated.

The base elements and plugs of VALVETRAB compact can be rotated 180 degrees. Your advantages: easy wiring and labeling.

This means that supply lines can be led from above, as in industrial installations; and from below, as in building installation.

VALVETRAB compact always fits. Labeling on the base element and plug is always legible and the connecting cables remain short.

The biconnect terminal blocks support two connections per channel. The arrester can therefore also be connected in V-type through wiring.

For example, you can remove the plug and perform insulation measurements without difficulty.

Another advantage of the plug-in capability: faulty plugs are replaced individually, inexpensively and quickly. Incorrect installation is eliminated because the VALVETRAB compact base element and plug are both keyed.

Recurring tests for surge protective devices can be performed quickly and easily using the CHECKMASTER arrester test device from Phoenix Contact.

The operating state of all protective paths of VALVETRAB compact is monitored.

In the event of an error, the plugs are thermally disconnected. Signaling takes place directly at the module, without power consumption.

Monitoring also has a simultaneous effect on the floating PDT contact. Easy-maintenance remote signaling can thus be implemented.

The arresters indicate their state at the location that suits you best.
