Phoenix Contact engineers celebrate National Engineers Week by teaching local science class

Middletown, Pa. – Phoenix Contact engineers are going back to school this week, to teach science class to sixth-graders at Middletown Area School District in Middletown, Pa. As part of the company’s National Engineers Week celebration, engineers will lead interactive lessons that combine theory and practice. The goal is to make science fun and inspire young students to consider careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields.

Activities for the week include building a catapult, racing cookie tins down a ramp, building an electric motor, and learning about static electricity through the Van de Graaff generator. This is the 13th year Phoenix Contact has partnered with the nearby school for National Engineers Week.
