Phoenix Contact engineers to celebrate Engineers Week by teaching class at Middletown Area Middle School

Phoenix Contact to teach local 6th-grade science class

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – In honor of National Engineers Week, Phoenix Contact engineers are continuing their tradition of teaching science class at Middletown Area Middle School, 215 Oberlin Road, Middletown, Pa., this week.

What: Phoenix Contact engineers will teach sixth-grade science class at Middletown Area Middle School. In Wednesday’s lesson, students will build catapults to learn about gravity, velocity, force and momentum.

The engineers combine theory with hands-on activities designed to make science fun. Other projects for the week include: building “cookie tin racers,” building an electric motor and learning about static electricity through the van de Graaf generator. This is the sixth year the company has teamed up with the school for Engineers Week.

National Engineers Week, Feb. 17 through 23, promotes engineering and technology careers to young students and honors engineers' contributions to society.
