With functionality that's one step above a safety relay and one step below a safety-rated PLC, the PSR-TRISAFE safety controller is ideal for applications using multiple standard safety relations, as well as for applications that need advanced or unique safety functionality.

SAFECONF software makes programming the safety controller's 20 safety inputs and four CAT4 safety outputs simple.  This free download doesn't require any licensing fees.  Once downloaded, SAFECONF's drag-and-drop interface makes the association between inputs and outputs - and features a Simulation Mode to verify a safety project without connecting to any hardware. The user-friendly development environment implements both simple and advanced safety relay type functional logic within the safety controller.

Safety applications for PSR-TRISAFE include:

  • Emergency stop function blocks
  • Two hand-controls
  • Door switches
  • Delayed contacts (TON or TOFF)
  • Light curtains
  • Muting mode selection
  • Other logic functions

 

The PSR-TRISAFE is also available in a modular version, allowing the addition of up to 10 expansion modules. Each expansion module comes with TRISAFE configuration software (SAFECONF) and can be set up for either:

  • 12 safe inputs
  • 8 safe inputs and 4 safe outputs
  • This gives you a variety of setups
  • A maximum of 140 inputs and 4 outputs
  • 92 inputs and 44 outputs

 

The expansion modules attach to the PSR-TRISAFE Modular using the T-bus connection system. The PSR-TRISAFE Modular also allows for the connection of a Fieldbus Gateway, which makes status information available for the machine control system.

The PSR-TRISAFE safety controller conforms to the latest international safety standards, including:

  • Performance level "e" (PLe) in accordance with ISO 13849-1
  • Safety Category 4, according to ISO 13849-1 and EN 954-1
  • Safety Integrity level 3 (SIL 3) in accordance with IEC 61508
