Relays are the interface for various plant processes

Water is required for all manufacturing processes in chemical plants. For example, it can drive turbines or function as a heating medium. As such, the movement of the water is controlled by 24 V DC solenoid valves.

A PLC controls the solenoid valve while simultaneous feedback is required regarding the valve state. A challenge here is the limited space.

Phoenix Contact has a selection of compact relay modules for space-saving applications. The PLC-2R ... modules provide two independently-controllable relays in a slim 6.2 mm housing. This enables different functions to be realized in a particularly space-efficient way.

The use of two integrated relays means the user benefits from twice the channel density. On the output side, the two relays provide separate plus and minus potentials.
