Phoenix Contact GmbH & Co KG, leading manufacturer of components and systems for electrical connections and industrial automation, and Mauell GmbH, a specialist in power station, process and network control technology, agree upon a collaboration in the energy sector.

Mauell's network control technology division is being spun off to form an independent company in which Phoenix Contact will have a stake. The aim of the collaboration is to work together to develop intelligent solutions for the energy market of the future. Current project proposals are based on automation solutions with open-source architectures, network and communication solutions, as well as intelligent connection systems. The portfolios from both companies offer enormous potential for finding synergies.

“Digitalization in the energy sector requires constant networking of energy flows and energy markets. Open software solutions and integration platforms are becoming more and more important for interoperable mains operation”, comments Bernhard Mecking, Executive Vice President of Mauell GmbH, based in Velbert.

“We're excited to collaborate with Mauell Netzleittechnik GmbH in the future, and to have such an experienced partner from the energy sector working alongside us”, enthused Ulrich Leidecker, Chairman of the Management Board of the Business Area Industry Management and Automation (IMA) at Phoenix Contact in Blomberg. “In this way, we can align our automation technology with the open controller platform PLCnext so that it is targeted at the demands of intelligent energy networks.”
