Italian racing motorcycles equipped with CCS vehicle charging inlet from Phoenix Contact

Charging inlet and charging cable from Phoenix Contact charge electric motorcyle

Energica Motor Company S.p.A. is the first Italian manufacturer of supersport electric motorcycles. The technologically outstanding motorcycles are developed and manufactured in Modena, Italy.

The motorcycle manufacturer receives tailwind from CRP Technology and CRP Meccanica, not only pioneers in international motor sports as F1 for their state-of-the-art additive and subtractive technologies, but also parent companies of Energica. Thanks to these roots, it is obvious that Energica is committed to racing with its electric motorcycles and is significantly helping to bring it onto the international stage. This is one of the reasons why Energica, with its Ego Corsa machines, is the single manufacturer for FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup.

Phoenix Contact E-Mobility from Schieder-Schwalenberg, Germany, offers the ideal charging interface with its universal CCS vehicle charging sockets, also for electric motorcycles. Energica's Ego-Corsa machines are all equipped with the CCS inlets, which enable both conventional AC and fast DC charging. The CCS charging interface offers maximum safety during the charging process. Monitoring the temperature at the power contacts is part of a safe charging process. Overheating due to high outside temperatures or overload is detected by the PT1000 resistance sensors. Another safety feature is the electromechanical locking bolt, which locks the charging connector in the vehicle inlet during the charging process, making it impossible to remove the charging connector under load.

A fire in Jerez, Spain, in March 2019 destroyed all racing machines, so that the original start of the MotoE racing series had to be postponed from May to July. Thanks to the efforts of Energica and its employees, all Ego Corsa machines were rebuilt in a very short time, in the record time of less than three months. Phoenix Contact E-Mobility sponsored all vehicle charging inlets installed in these machines.
