20th Industrial Communication Congress

[4707] The 20th Industrial Communication Congress takes place on March 17th and 18th, 2015 in Bad Pyrmont, Germany.

Two decades ago, Phoenix Contact started up the fieldbus congress so that users of Interbus technology were able to exchange information and this has now been established as the forum for innovative communication solutions. In 1995 it was serial data transmission but today, users, manufacturers, universities, and associations are talking about the future project Industrie 4.0. Various different speakers are therefore explaining how digital data can be transmitted all over the world in order to make the production process more flexible and economic. A further objective of the future project is efficient and sustainable use of the available resources. Here there are energy management solutions that are also the subject of some of the presentations. The range of topics is rounded off with factory tours that demonstrate the implementation of energy efficiency measures and the first Industrie 4.0 concepts at Phoenix Contact.

To celebrate this anniversary, the Automotive Industry as one of the first Interbus users will be playing an important role. Not only has controller technology changed in the last decades but also the drive concept for cars has developed in the direction of E-Mobility. Some speakers will report on how batteries can serve as intelligent power storage and function as virtual power plants. Participants can also drive a few laps in an electric car. In addition to numerous presentations, there will be an accompanying exhibition on the topics discussed as well as an exciting presentation in the evening. Prof. Dr. Gunter Dueck will report on what cloud computing and Industrie 4.0 mean for the economy and society, and what steps still have to be taken for rigorous change.
