Switches for stable machine networks

22.11.2016

Two new switches from the 2000 series with five and eight copper ports

[4902] Thanks to the new, intelligent switches from the FL Switch 2000 series from Phoenix Contact, networks can be quickly and easily established and monitored during series production of machines.

When it comes to series production of machines, intelligent networks are increasingly required for automatic error detection and troubleshooting. However, the Unmanaged Switches, which are generally used today, can no longer fulfil these requirements. The new 2000 Switches thus represent an alternative which provides configuration and monitoring options in the machine network that meet requirements: with the aid of multicast filter functions and redundancy mechanisms, the data load in the network is reduced and communication is also maintained in the event of unwanted loops or device failures. In the new, unique Unmanaged Mode, these functions are also available when operating the switch as a passive network device. The devices are configured via SD card or Smart Mode Button directly on the device, for example.
