Phoenix Contact receives award for digitalization in strategic purchasing

BME innovation award

The strategic purchasing department at Phoenix Contact received the "Excellence in eSolutions 2019" award on March 12, 2019 in Düsseldorf.

The Association for Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics (BME) awards the innovative achievements of end user companies in the field of electronic procurement (e-procurement). To this end, awards go to concepts that result in a substantial improvement in purchasing performance. According to the BME, the concept proposed by Phoenix Contact serves as a blueprint for state-of-the-art, forward-looking supplier management systems.

Centralized access makes it possible for all strategic buyers to conveniently and directly communicate with suppliers. At the same time, all supplier activities (e.g. standardized supplier master data maintenance and supplier evaluations) are managed digitally. The concept and software are currently being employed by the purchasing departments at eight Phoenix Contact production locations around the world. The award-winning solution will be showcased in September during a Phoenix Contact practice day in Bad Pyrmont. "This concept of our purchasing network is proof that digitalization works. Not only do we profit from an increased level of transparency for strategic buyers; we can also provide the interest groups of the procurement organizations with targeted information", affirms Markus Brentano, Vice President of the Corporate Purchasing department at Phoenix Contact GmbH & Co. KG.
