The Radioline wireless system based on Trusted Wireless 2.0 technology from Phoenix Contact has been extended with a wireless module for the 868 MHz frequency band. The wireless module uses the license-free frequency band, which is open to all in Europe, with a maximum transmission power of 500 mW and enables easy signal transmission of I/O signals and serial data, especially in outdoor applications, as in the wastewater sector or energy supply. The module is a simple and reliable solution for applications that are not time-critical, where signals must be transmitted across large distances of up to 20 km.
A particular advantage of the wireless module comes from the variable data rate of the wireless interface that ranges from 1.2 to 120 kbps. Its receiver sensitivity thereby increases. With a low data rate, a significantly greater distance can be negotiated than could be with a high data rate. Through individual adjustments, the user is capable of fine-tuning the setup to their particular application and desired range.
The Radioline wireless system offers I/O mapping, which distributes the signals in the system without prior programming. Inputs and outputs are assigned quickly by simply turning the thumbwheel. Each wireless station is modularly expandable with up to 32 I/O extension modules.
