As the number of distributed automation components increases, so too does the number of necessary interfaces. Whether in industrial or process automation, in building automation or in the energy sector – tailor-made PCB connections, connectors and electronics housings form the basis of intelligently networked devices.

Experience the latest Phoenix Contact innovations at the Hannover Messe. Lever-actuated PCB connectors, electronics housings versatile in application, and compact fiber optic splice boxes are just a few of the numerous creative solutions for a smart world.

Control cabinet manufacturing today is characterized by sinking batch sizes, increasing cost pressure and shorter delivery times. This area of manufacturing has undergone little automation, however.

At our trade fair booth, learn how you can design your processes to be more efficient in a generously equipped workshop area. Starting with the selection of the right components, through intuitive planning, all the way through to production with rapid wiring and installation.

The EV Charging Suite software forms the interface between the driver, charging park, grid operator, and backend provider. The integrated load management system ensures optimum distribution of the contractually available connected load to the charging points. Furthermore, the software supports the convenient management of the charging points and users, various authorization methods, and a consumption-based billing system via the backend provider.

Further information

Thanks to integrated cooling, charging stations equipped with our HPC technology reach charging powers of up to 500,000 watts. This charges an electric vehicle for a range of 100 kilometers in three to five minutes. The High Power Charging system includes electric vehicle connectors, a cooling system and a corresponding controller for the cooling circuit. Moreover, a standardized interface is offered for guiding the charging cable into the charging station, with strain relief.

Further information

The basis for the intelligent production of tomorrow is the use of a consistent digital description. The technology network of Eplan, Rittal, and Phoenix Contact demonstrates the consistent, automated process from the digital item through engineering, and right through to production.

What is the Hannover Messe?

Phoenix Contact at the worlds largest industrial trade fair

Phoenix Contact at the world's largest industrial trade fair

The Hannover Messe (HM) is the most important leading trade fair for international industry. It is based on several leading trade fairs on the key subjects of modern industry:

  • Integrated Automation, Motion & Drives: International leading trade fair for integrated automation, industrial IT, drive and fluid technology
  • Digital Factory: International leading trade fair for integrated processes and IT solutions
  • Energy: International leading trade fair for integrated energy systems and mobility
  • Industrial Supply: International leading trade fair for supplier solutions and light construction
  • Research and Technology: International leading trade fair for research, development and the transfer of technology

The leading trade fairs are oriented toward various technologies and areas of application. In 2018, the leading trade fairs Industrial Automation and MDA are merging to create a new, annual event – Integrated Automation, Motion & Drives (IAMD). The IAMD covers the entire spectrum of industrial automation, IT, drive and fluid technology. This provides companies with a platform to showcase solutions for intelligent production processes. This turns the smart factory into a reality. Phoenix Contact is represented at the new leading trade fair in Hall 9.

Hannover Messe Obama visit: Into the future with the Chancellor and President

The USA was the partner country of the Hannover Messe in 2016. The US President at the time, Barack Obama, took this opportunity to visit Hanover. During the traditional tour of the trade fair with Chancellor Angela Merkel, he was shown outstanding technical innovations.

On this occasion, Frank Stührenberg and Jack Nehlig demonstrated the new electromobility fast charging plug to them at the Phoenix Contact booth. A special highlight: the DeLorean DMC-12 sports car from the film series "Back to the Future" was rebuilt to illustrate the subject of fast charging technology. President Obama was not only enthusiastic about the innovative charging technology. He also impressed the Chancellor and the Phoenix Contact CEO, Frank Stührenberg, with his film knowledge.

The history of the Hannover Messe

Experience more than 70 years of Hannover Messe history.

The self-proclaimed motto of the largest industrial trade fair in the world is "Tradition and Innovation". It was established in 1947 as the "Hannover Export Fair 1947" under the banner of the German company Deutsche Messe- und Ausstellungs-AG, Hannover-Laatzen. After the Second World War, the purpose of the new industrial trade fair was to provide a counterpoint to the Leipzig Trade Fair in the former GDR, and to emphasize the innovative power of West Germany.

As a venue for international contacts, the Hannover Messe quickly attracted attention from international guests. As early as 1950, there were exhibitors from ten different countries, one of these being the USA. Over the years, the trade fair has become increasingly international. The first Hannover Messe partner country was Brazil in 1980. Since then, companies of a different country have presented their products each year.

CeBIT (Centrum der Büro- und Informationstechnik - Center for Office and IT) developed into an independent trade fair event in 1986 from the Hannover Messe Industrie, known in short as the "HMI". Today, CeBIT is the largest international trade fair for information and communication technology. Particular focus is on products and solutions in the field of digitalization. The trade fair for light and building technology – light+building – also emerged from the Hannover Messe. This is held every two years in Frankfurt.

Today, the leading trade fair is the barometer for technological developments. The exhibition is currently dominated by subjects such as the Internet of Things, industrial digitalization, robotics and renewable energies. Over the next few years, numerous innovations for Industrie 4.0 – the digital industrial revolution – will be introduced and, naturally, will make their debut at the Hannover Messe (HM).
