The xplore New Automation Award 2018 is Phoenix Contact's international technology and training competition. Just like our portfolio, creative and innovative automation solutions are the main focus of the competition. Teams of pupils, trainees, and students from across the world are invited to submit their project ideas.

20 years of xplore – a competition with tradition

The first xplore competition was held in 1998. Since then, more than 500 projects from over 30 nations have been implemented in six editions, thanks to the help of Phoenix Contact. Great prizes or the opportunity to exhibit the project at the largest industrial trade fair in the world, the Hannover Messe, were not the only incentives for participation. Increasingly, the teams are able to make international contacts during the course of the competition and meet other technology-mad young people.

As part of the 20-year anniversary of the competition, this year, there will be a special category: the new Infinity category. No limits should be placed on the potential of automation technology, and that's why Phoenix Contact, along with partner organizations, has chosen to support 300 schools in developing countries by sending them a package containing technical supplies. With the technical components in these packages, taking the first steps in automation technology becomes a reality and automation ideas can be implemented. This allows our enthusiasm for automation to be shared.
