Safe temperature monitoring in process technology

During safe process monitoring, the temperature in the tank is continuously controlled and monitored. Here, closed-loop control and the safety equipment are consistently isolated.

The freely programmable PDT contacts of the SIL-certified temperature transducers can be used for signaling and alarm generation as well as safe shutdown.

Application examples: temperature monitoring with current output

Temperature monitoring with 4-wire RTD

Temperature monitoring with current output - example 1

Connection example 1

Input: 4-wire RTD

Output: 4 ... 20 mA current output with simple signal contact (switching output 1) and safe limit value at the safe controller (combination of switching output 2 and 3, N/C contact in series)

Temperature monitoring via thermocouple with internal cold junction compensation

Temperature monitoring with current output - example 2

Connection example 2

Input: thermocouple with internal cold junction compensation

Output: 4 ... 20 mA current output with simple signal contact (switching output 1, N/O contact) and safe limit value at the safe controller (combination of switching output 2 and 3, N/C contact in parallel)

Temperature monitoring via thermocouple with external or without cold junction compensation or voltage input

Temperature monitoring with current output - example 3

Connection example 3

Input: thermocouple with external or without cold junction compensation or voltage input

Output: 4 ... 20 mA current output with simple signal contact (switching output 1, N/O contact) and safe limit value (combination of switching output 2 and 3, N/C contact in series) at the safe controller
