LM-S lightning monitoring system

The new system can be used to make distributed energy generation safer. Lightning strikes are permanently detected and evaluated. This enables immediate reaction to surge current loads and anticipated damage to the system. Preventive maintenance minimizes secondary damage and long downtimes and reduces unnecessary maintenance work.

The system covers a surge current measuring range of +/-5 kA to 250 kA. It detects both positive and negative currents, and the respective amperages. This enables detailed analysis of the lightning current (Imax, dI/dt, specific energy, charge).

Thanks to the optical measuring principle and optical signal transmission, there is no risk of transmitting electrical disturbance variables into areas containing sensitive electronics.

The system has a modular structure and can therefore be used flexibly. The robust design means that the LM-S is particularly resistant to extreme temperature fluctuations and weather influences; in addition, it is particularly shock and vibration resistant.

The lightning monitoring system allows potential damage to be detected and prevents the resulting costs. The use of such a system provides the following benefits:
